I enjoy painting landscapes that impart a feeling of immense size, space and freedom. I’m fascinated by the interplay of light and the intensity of colour in those golden hours of dawn and dusk. Long shadows, large skies, rusty dirt, powerful land formations and colourful grasses are features of my work. I feel happy and at home in a vast empty space, be it a landscape or an ocean.
My paintings are about an emotional and spiritual connection to the subject matter that draws on my childhood memories and an ever-present appreciation of nature. They’re about feeling the warmth or cool of the day or an approaching storm and enjoying the affect the weather has on colour and light.
