I grew up in country New South Wales. As a child I spent most of my time outside, tending to the chooks, mustering cattle on horseback, building cubby houses and generally going up the paddock to do something. I loved nature and being outside.
I left the country long ago and now live on Sydney’s Northern Beaches in Australia. From here I have easy access to the coast and its rich vistas and delightful fauna and flora.
I am inspired by a lifetime of connection and attraction to vast landscapes or seascapes, big skies, changing light and the natural world. Intensity and contrasts of colour that emanate from sweeping storm clouds over land and sea are captivating. I love the drama they create. For me space, and often isolation, impart a sense of freedom and joy.
My figurative work is infused with memory and the inherent, often mysterious, beauty of nature. It is my hope the viewer will feel present and form their own interpretations of a work. While not attempting to champion any specific cause, I am passionate about the natural world and believe it is worth preserving.
I have exhibited in solos, group exhibitions in Sydney and rural NSW and an art fair in Sydney. I have completed commissions in acrylic, watercolour and mixed media.
